LPG gas price
The DMPR sets a maximum retail price for residential LPG every month, with a separate figure for the Western Cape. On 2 September 2026 it rose 69 cents a kilogram, and 79 cents in the Western Cape.
Commercial and bulk LPG are priced by contract, based on volume, delivery distance and your tank size. We quote per kilogram, delivered. See the monthly changes on our fuel price page.
Who uses LPG
- Hospitality: kitchens, water heating and patio heating. See fuel for hotels and restaurants.
- Agriculture: heating poultry houses, crop drying and tunnel heating.
- Manufacturing: process heat, boilers, ovens and forklifts. See industrial fuel supply.
- Estates and complexes: central tanks feeding many homes.
Installation and safety
Every LPG installation must be installed and certified by a gas practitioner registered with SAQCC Gas, who issues a certificate of conformity. Tanks need safe distances from buildings, boundaries, drains and ignition sources, as set out in SANS 10087.
A bulk delivery can only go into an installation with a valid certificate of conformity, so have yours ready when you request a quote.
Bulk tank or cylinders?
If you use gas every day in volume (a commercial kitchen, a poultry operation, a factory) a bulk tank is usually cheaper per kilogram and never runs out between deliveries. For light or occasional use, cylinders are simpler; the common sizes in South Africa are 9 kg, 19 kg and 48 kg. Tell us your monthly usage and we'll recommend the right set-up.

LPG: questions buyers ask
What does LPG cost per kg?
Residential LPG has a maximum retail price set monthly by the DMPR. Bulk and commercial LPG are quoted per kilogram, delivered, based on volume and distance. Send us your monthly usage for a price.
Is LP gas the same as LPG?
Yes. LP gas, LPG and liquefied petroleum gas are the same fuel: a mixture of propane and butane stored as a liquid under pressure.
Do I need a certificate for an LPG installation?
Yes. A gas practitioner registered with SAQCC Gas must install and certify it and issue a certificate of conformity. We need a valid certificate before a bulk delivery.
Should I use a bulk tank or cylinders?
Bulk tanks suit steady, high use and usually cost less per kilogram. Cylinders suit light or occasional use. Tell us your monthly usage and we’ll recommend one.
Can you deliver LPG near me?
We deliver bulk LPG to businesses across South Africa. Send your town and monthly usage and we confirm availability and lead time for your area.
